The Vietnam Water Cooperation Initiative (VACI) is a global platform to share and co-create innovative water solutions with particular emphasis on Viet Nam and tropical water issues. Under auspice of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) – the responsible Ministry for water management in Viet Nam, VACI has been growing since 2012 and brought together leaders who are pioneering new solutions. It uncovers new scientific findings and technological breakthroughs that could be transformative for the water industry and connects the world’s leading companies and water professionals working in water sectors. Uniquely, it attracts decision-makers across the entire water value chain that allows global water industry to collaborate on local business opportunities in Viet Nam and the region.
The 2018 Vietnam International Water Week (VIWW) – VACI was divided into four mains part: (1) conference, (2) water expo, (3) business-forum and (4) social – networking. The conference maintained the plenary session on Water and Sustainable Development Goals topic and 22 different hot-issue workshops. Water expo included pavilions, exhibitors, poster exhibition and exhibitor forums. There were also 7 business forums and 8 social – networking programs in this year VIWW – VACI.

The representatives from the Rise and Fall project participated in the 10th hot-issue workshop on Sustainable Groundwater Development with the oral presentation on “Groundwater resources governance in the Vietnamese Mekong Delta coastal areas”. The presentation contained three main parts: (1) A brief introduction of the Rise and Fall project; (2) An overview of water related issues in the Vietnamese Mekong Delta; and, (3) Challenges and opportunities of groundwater resources governance in the Vietnamese Mekong Delta coastal area.
